Belinda Nailon, is a Melbourne-based ceramicist. She draws inspiration from her surroundings in St Kilda, nature and meditations.

"From a young age, I was drawn to the invisible world—a quiet, enriching space beyond reality. I could touch it through a sunset or marvel at the vastness of the night sky, which compelled me to ask life's deeper, perennial questions. The pottery wheel serves as my window into these answers, offering a philosophical framework. My practice is a form of meditation, where object making leads to awakenings. Even the simplest actions, like centering, hold profound meaning. Through listening, observation, and dedication, I connect to a deeper self, where conditioning falls away. This is my intention as an artist: to awaken, to observe life from the center without being lost in the “wobble.” Whether it's a humble cup or a fine art piece, each creation is a reminder to pause, reflect on life's wonders, and let them mirror the wonders within."

One of Belinda's techniques is raku firing, a Japanese method that involves removing pottery from the kiln while it's still glowing hot and placing it in a closed container with combustible materials. This alchemical process introduces an element of chance, resulting in unique and unpredictable surface finishes.

Belinda has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally, showcasing her artistry in galleries and boutiques across Australia and the UK. Her pieces are available for purchase through her website, select galleries, and her studio in St Kilda.
